FIFA 21 marks the first time in a long time that Career Mode fans are getting real updates that matter. These changes take time and commitment but can be vital to adding depth to a squad. Younger players will be more receptive to learning new positions, especially if given playing time. Match sharpness and morale are also taken into account. Players that don't feature in training will be less prepared for matches, and coupled with low morale will lead to decreased stats. Players will also be more affected by being played out of position.

Instructing players to execute drills will drain their fitness but could, if successful, give them a big sharpness boost, which will increase their stats for the next match. You can also affect sharpness and fitness by letting your players have a day off or allowing a recovery day. Stats will be affected by sharpness (between 0 and 100, where 50 is considered average sharpness), morale, and being played in a preferred position. New ways to sign players are being introduced. Loan to buy options with both optional and mandatory fees will be available, as well as these types of deal being initiated by AI managers.
